A great start to my season, at LACMA a fantastic location with so many awesome lines and with a beautiful couple… what more could i ask. We are looking forward to capturing these two tie the knot in June, no doubt it is going to be stunning.

Nancy :: baby bump | Riverside

I am so glad that i managed to do a quick maternity shoot for Nancy before this little buba’ arrives. She is due this coming week ! lets hope for mama’s sake she is right on time! This was a short and sweet session, which probably had alot to do with the fact we had two 3 year olds and a 3 month old hanging around.

A little over a year ago, Nancy and i met at our local park where our kids play. I spotted Nancy across the swings, and thinking “she doesnt look like a crazy person” and made my way across to say hello. Nancy probably thinking “whos this crazy person coming to talk to me” (i guess we will never know hehe) Anyways, with our daughters being so close in age it turned out to be perfect. We had a quite a few chats in those beginning days of friendship of when we would be having another baby…… pretty sure we would be waiting awhile. Flash forward today, and here we are with our second daughters just over what will be 3 months apart. Actually come to think about it Lailah + Indie are also around 3 months apart. I cannot wait to meet this new little girl and to capture her and her sister Lailah. I photographed Lailah awhile back, such an amazing little girl! you can see that session here.

Indie at 3 | LA + Orange County

December, you got to love Decembers. This December was crazy for us and wonderful all at the same time. My mother finally made it up for a visit from South Africa, she finally got to meet John and Indie in person! All i can say is thank goodness for skype, else i would not be very connected to my side of the family at all. Anyways my mom and Indie just fell in love, it was so precious to watch. Indie especially loved it when she realized this person called ‘Nana’ also spoilt her rotten. With seeing my mom after so many years, Indies birthday and our due date approaching as well as setting to move (which we thought was happening at the end of January ~ how wrong were we) We managed to put together a little party for Indie, well before her actual birth date. Nova arrived 4 days after Indies birthday! It was not my intention to have a 2 December babies actually i was dreaming of a summer baby where birthday parties are outside and full of sunshine. Good thing we live in Southern California then eh! On Indies birthday party she was happy, all she wanted was a purple butterfly and thats what myself and my mom made for her and she was joined by two of her favorite friends. Her birthday was spent with family and a very pregnant mommy but, we headed out for some super important photos, the first of her and her Nana …. and the first for the start of her BIG #3

Im catching up with things before this wedding season hits for me. I have chosen to start shooting in April for engagements and in May my dates are filling up really nicely for the rest of the year. I am so excited to start shooting again, i am really looking forward to capturing these weddings, getting to know my couples, getting creative and spending more time with adults. I am also super excited to travel up North for quite a few weddings where i get to spend time with family .. and my girls get to spend time with cousins!

It seems the only thing better that one is two. I am totally in love with our baby girls. Seeing them together, i feel more complete than i ever thought i could. At 6 weeks old Nova has already put her print firm within our family and we are enjoying every moment. I am filling with so much gratitude for this beautiful life which is taking shape around me.

Home Birth of Nova Dae

Most of you know our second little girl arrived in December, i have already shared (bragged)a couple of her images on my Facebook page :) . Since i share so many precious moments of my client, i felt i would love to share this moment with you all. Having a home birth was very important to us for many reasons and i feel so blessed to say we had a very successful home birth. Nova entered the world at 1:50am on 12.11.12 weighing 8.8lbs pink and beautiful. We had just celebrated Indies birthday on the 7th and my mothers on the 10th and the happy birthday banner happened to stay there for Nova. Indie was there to witness the birth of her sister and was so excited i wish i had video just to capture her excitement. The whole experience was life changing and i feel stronger today than ever before. My mom was able to join us from South Africa which added the cherry to the top of this wonderful time. John was so strong and right by my side the whole time and he really was all i needed through some of the ruff moments which looking back seem so few. Words cannot even express the joy we feel to have two such amazing girls, i am in awe of my family everyday. A big thank you to my midwives for watching over this special time for our family. Happy New Year, may 2013 bring you health and happiness and much love!

This blog post is way over due, with the last months of pregnancy and then the arrival of our daughter (blogs coming soon). I finally have a chance to post some images of Heather and Matts beautiful lemon orchid wedding that took place in Santa Paula, CA. The location and the couple are totally divine. I love capturing and seeing the love between a couple on their wedding day. There is an untold story between a couple, its what connects them to each other and to capture that is such a privilege. A mystery to us and only what we can imagine ~ May you imagine love.

Since i captured Alexis and Matts engagement session last year i had been anticipating their wedding day. We had a great time capturing at the Toll House Hotel and The Opera House as well as the streets of Los gatos, CA. Matt and Alexis chose to do something a little less formal for their portraits and took a walk after the ceremony to spend some private time together and i was able to play paparazzi and capture some street photography. We had a lot of fun with the entire bridal party (who just happened to be the most organized i have ever encountered ) We really enjoyed the creative center pieces created by Alexis along with the creative vows and not to mention the surprise Alexis had for Matt ~ singing him a beautiful song (A case of you by Joni Mitchell – which i always remember for the Practical magic movie but will not be associated with Alexis and Matt’s awesome wedding. A big thanks to Victoria for joining John and I in capturing this special day.

We had a great time spending some time at a local park during the late afternoon light. Another beautiful session with a beautiful family.
